The book "Okinawa Paradox" is the result of Joan Tomás trip to Okinawa, an island full of paradoxes: a contemporary society with deep ancestral beliefs and a spirituality present everywhere coexists with American bases installed on the island, as well as lush tropical nature it shares space with modern infrastructure, all of which are marked by the tragic events of the Okinawa Battle at the end of World War II, where one third of the civilian population died.

Okinawa Paradox wants to reflect all of these paradoxes, not everything is explained, but everything is hinted between lines, in a poetic language where the images dialogue with each other and also with the texts. A publication that is removable and offers a second reading or, if you like, a continuation.

Text are by the European writers: Lidija Djkosvka, Adam Foulds, Jasmin Frelih, and Walid Nabhan, who made an artistic residency in Okinawa in 2018 .

The project was commissioned by the Cricao Toulousse association and the Garaman Hall Cultural Center from Ginoza in Okinawa.
